Tan Holdings opens second cinema in Guam 2006-11-22 Saipan Tribune Guam, U.S.A. -- Tango Inc., an affiliate of Tan Holdings Corporation, has opened a new state-of-the-art movie theater in the refurbished Agana Shopping Center in Hagatna, Guam, in an event attended by company executives, government officials, and guests.
The inauguration of the theater was attended by Guam governor Felix Camacho, first lady Joanne Camacho, governor Kaleo Moylan, Tan Holdings chief executive officer Willie Tan, Tan Holdings president Jerry Tan, Tango vice president Art Gordon, Agana Shopping Center owner Henry Sy, and Agana Shopping Center general manager Therese Kamm, among others.
The theater features comfortable stadium seating, state-of-the-art projection equipment, and digital theater sound. The five-plex cinema is expected to meet public demand for more entertainment facilities in the central and southern parts of Guam.
Tan Holdings president and chief operating officer Jerry Tan expressed enthusiasm over the opening of Tango’s theater in the shopping center.
“We’re very excited to be part of Agana Shopping Center. We’re pleased to be able to bring theater entertainment to more people in Guam,” Tan said. “I want to acknowledge Henry Sy for investing in the shopping center and the local government for its support.”
“I remember growing up in Guam and going to this mall, the oldest and largest shopping center that time,” Tan remembered. “With its new design and tenants, Agana Shopping Center has become an important shopping and entertainment destination for the community.”
The Agana Shopping Mall theater is the second opened by Tango, which also operates the 12-plex Micronesia Mall Theatre.
Tango vice president Art Gordon said Tango is pleased with the overwhelming reception its theaters have received from the public. The Micronesia Mall theater has captured a 53-percent market share of theater patronage in Guam.
