CNMI Gov't Officials and Vendors Visit 2013 World Travel Fair in Shanghai, China

SHANGHAI-The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands(CNMI) delegation graced the 10th World Travel Fair in Shanghai, China on May 9-12, 2013. Leading the group from the CNMI government were House Representative and Tourism Committee Chairman Ralph Yumul, House Representative and Judiciary and Government Operations Committee Chairman Christopher Guerrero, Marianas Visitors Authority(MVA) Vice Chairman Marian Aldan-Pierce and MVA Managing Director Perry Tenorio. Also present were top executives and representatives from the vendor community in Saipan including APHI, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Sollar, Tasi Tours, Big Boyz, CMLC ARTHA, and Pacific Subsea. Saipan, gets significant coverage in Chinese lifestyle media

Saipan USA takes over the Chinese TV screen and magazine this month of May. International Channel Shanghai (ICS), a bilingual lifestyle TV network featured Extreme Saipan in its program, Getaway. Travel adventurer host Cameron Andersen explored the different faces of Saipan including the exciting activities on land, air and water, mouthwatering local delicacies, the indigenous cultures and friendly island people. ICS aired the first of 2 episodes of Extreme Saipan on May 5, 7:30pm; the second part will be aired next month. Getaway is also aired on web TV channels in the cities surrounding Shanghai. The ranking is based on the data provided by the flight specialist, Innovata, specifying the average seats per week allocated by different airlines in China to the US. Saipan receives almost 2,000 Chinese tourists per week with the 8 direct flights from the Mainland's gateway cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing. Skechers China hosted the Fall/Winter 2013 Sales Conference at the Minde Grand Hotel in Shanghai City last March 11-13, 2013. SKECHERS Runner Win in 2012 Shanghai International Marathon

Nearly thirty thousand amateur and professional runners joined this year's Annual Shanghai International Marathon which started at Chen Yi Square last December 2, 2012. Skechers, the world famous brand, teamed up with Shanghai Track Team; the result, a lot of prizes were won. Yang Shuai, Winner in many International Marathon, won the third place in the men's group half marathon category. Zhang Hai Kun, who won three consecutive championships in the National Track & Field, got the sixth place in the same category. Women runners also brought home major prizes; Wang Qian Wen and Zheng Zhi Ling of Skechers China Team ended in the sixth and seventh place respectively in the women's half marathon category. Also part of Skechers China Team is Sun Le Le, the 17-year old gold medalist in the1500 meters race in 2011Nangchang 7th city games. Read more »
Saipan's Leading Hotels Visit China

SHANGHAI - Representatives of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands (HANMI) met with Century Tours management during a recent visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou, two of the main cities and sources of Chinese tourists for Saipan, Tinian and Rota islands of the Northern Marianas. HANMI's Chairman and Hyatt Regency Saipan General Manager Mr. Nick Nishikawa led the team that included Mr. Hiroyuki Toyoshima, Aqua Resort General Manager; Mr. Ivan Quichocho, Century Hotel General Manager; Mr Takahiro Omori, Marianas Resort & Spa Sales and Marketing Director; and Mr. Jong Tae Park,World Resort General Manager. Before the group's trip, President of Asia Pacific Hotels Inc Mr. Jeffrey Schweizer, where Asia Pacific Hotels Inc is the owning company of Fiesta Guam, Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan, Kanoa Resort and Century Hotel, paid a visit to Shanghai and met with Century Tours representatives to introduce the newly renovated resort on the islands. Beijing-Saipan 3x Weekly Flights Start Nov. 15

Century Tours, in cooperation with China Eastern, brings a new flight route to Saipan, USA from Beijing, China starting November 15, 2012. The 3-times weekly flight from the mainland's capital aims to address the increasing tourist demand for Saipan, USA.
