Willie Tan Receives Recognition for Investments in the Philippines

LTE chief executive and chairman of L&T International Group Willie Tan receives awards

Manila, Philippines - Philippine President Benigno Aquino III commended Willie Tan, Luen Thai Enterprises chief executive and chairman of L&T International Group for being an ambassador to the country and bringing investments. Aquino was the guest of honor and speaker at the 20th Anniversary celebration of the Association of Young Filipino-Chinese Entrepreneurs (AYFCE), which was held March 16, 2012 at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City. He said that manufacturing entities were coming into the country because "a lot of them, I think were convinced by Willie Tan over here, who has done quite a great feat."

Willie Tan also received a plaque of recognition for L & T International Group for its substantive social contributions and job creation through its new investment projects thereby inspiring other businesses in the country. The company has been operating luxury brand production facilities for more than two decades in the country employing thousands of Filipino workers.

The AYFCE, formerly known as the Anvil Business Club, is an organization of businessmen and professionals established in 1991 exercising Confucian and Filipino values to pursue excellence in their own fields to help the country progress economically and socially. Its 20th anniversary celebration, with the theme "Linking Young Entrepreneurs in Asia: Promoting Investments in the Philippines," was also attended by the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Ma Ke Qing and over 400 guests composed of local, international and multinational business, political and other leaders. Other business organizations also received awards of recognition, including the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Transnational Diversified Group.
